The Temple of Hercules

Amman, Jordan---The Temple of Hercules, part of the Ammonite---Greek---Nabaetean---Roman---Byzantine---Arab---Ottoman---just-about-everything citadel complex that overlooks downtown Amman, capital of Jordan. The face of Jabal al-Ashrafayeh and its dense buildings rise steeply behind, the uniquely black-and-white tiled Abu Darwish mosque just visible in the top right. An armada of kites fly overhead.
